By JUNA Co-founders Angela & Christian
JUNA was founded in early 2010 by the two of us, a German-Colombian couple.
When you speak to anyone who has been to Colombia, they will surely have something to say about the rich variety of exotic and delicious fruit there! At our wedding celebration in Colombia in 2007 we set up a juice bar for our guests, many of them from Europe and the US. As always, the exotic juices were a resounding success. We had identified a business opportunity. Add to that our desire to create something new and independent and make a difference in Colombia, and JUNA was born!
With JUNA we have been tackling the hugely rewarding challenge of building a chain of people and solutions between the small farmers and their families in rural Colombia to the High Street in Europe. It has been exciting to bridge gaps, and at times canyons, between worlds that are worlds apart – physically, culturally, socio-economically.
At the same time, we have learned that today even small start-up companies like JUNA are in a position to make a real impact across borders. This is true thanks to the Internet, social media and today’s logistics solutions; but also thanks to a growing number of consumers who care about what lies behind a product, where it comes from and what it means. As a result, it’s become a small world after all.
A big thank you to all of you out there who help make JUNA a success!
