The guanábana fruit (annona muricata) is also known under the names soursop (English), graviola (Brasil), guyabano (Philippines) and sirsak or durian belanda (Indonesia).

It has a dark green skin with a pineapple-like texture and is filled with delicious white and juicy pulp containing black seeds. The guanábana’s unique aroma combines sweetness with subtle acidic tones.

This big fruit (up to the size of a watermelon) is adapted to areas of high humidity and relatively warm winters and is native to Central America, the Caribbean and northern South America. Guanábana is an excellent source of fibre and vitamin B1, B2 and C. The fruit, seeds, and leaves also have a number of herbal medicinal uses among indigenous peoples.
